Larnaca airport has serious troubles regarding tourist flights. The airport could not accept more than two millions of passengers, which arrive to Cyprus every year. The Cyprus government allocated nearly 20 millions CYP for modernization of the airport, but it is quite difficult when at the same time arrive few flights. In present for the improvement of the airport's modernization, the Cyprus authorities regard the possibilities to implement an agreement with the Hermes consortium. But this can not be implemented earlier than in October. At the same time, the government do not agree to allocate more funds for the modernization process of the airport, which means that this summer will be a difficult one as for the travelers and for the airport staff as well. But these difficulties have nothing to do with those tourists who already booked cyprus villas or a room in a hotel. However these troubles will affect the travellers' choice for the next years' destination.
